Why our community members love us and why we love them!
I am new to Boston from Baltimore, MD. I would have never made it here if it weren’t for Nesterly. Through Nesterly, I was able to find a room, much cheaper than most, in a safe home and environment. My Host and I came up with a Homesharing Agreement that allows me to have low rent fees in exchange for help around her home. Throughout the entire process, Nesterly’s team has been supportive of my needs. They respond quickly and efficiently to any questions or requests. It’s a great exchange and an all around win-win situation.Katie (Guest) – Roslindale, MA
[My Guest] is wonderful. From my perspective we have a model home share. It is a pleasure to get acquainted with her and the world is a better place with her in it. Maturity and mutual respect that comes from life experiences is a contributing factor [to why we get along so well].Ginger (Host) – Watertown, MA
My wife and I have hosted two Nesterly students. In 2017, we hosted a lovely young lady from Zimbabwe who was pursuing a Masters in Public Health from Harvard. This year, we are hosting a young woman from Cuba who is studying for a Masters in Film at Emerson. Both of our ‘tenants’ have been a joy to have around, sharing experiences from their homelands and hopes for the future. Both were quiet and respectful and joined us regularly for meals and watching movies. Their presence made our home more enjoyable as they have been very helpful walking our dog and making the house presentable.Robert and Emily (Hosts) – Jamaica Plain, MA
I am a Graduate Student from Cuba at at the Film and Media Art program at Emerson College. My experience with Nesterly was excellent. It’s a reliable website, with very kind and efficient workers. Nesterly offers students with low income [a community to] find a perfect host and place to live for a [lower] price. Accommodation in Boston is very expensive and results in a very stressful process, especially for international students coming from poor countries and under scholarships. This is why a program where students can ask for advice is so necessary. It’s also beneficial for hosts [with large] houses and a lot of space or an empty nester -as it’s usually called. The program also proposes that host and guest make deals that could reduce the monthly price, in exchange of helping around the house, walking dogs, etc… I would strongly recommend this website and hopefully it will be soon extended over the United States, because is very useful!!Cynthia (Guest) – Jamaica Plain, MA
Nesterly helped me find a place in a very frustrating reality of infinite search time in Facebook groups and prices that many times do not correlate to the value of what you get.Lior (Guest) – Cambridge, MA
[Our Guest] was responsible for cat care and shoveling when we were out of town and she was great. The cat was sick and she was attentive and called me to make sure we could get the cat to the vet.Julie (Host) – Jamaica Plain, MA
[My Guest] is a very easy person to live with. She’s fun and engaging on the one hand and respects your privacy on the other. She spent Thanksgiving with us and it was great to get to know her a bit more!Ali (Host) – Newtonville, MA
Sharing space with [my Host] has been really easy. I really like conversations with her and living with [her] has been a great way to get to know my neighborhood because she’s lived there for years. I went [home] for Christmas and felt like I was really able to talk about where I’m living because of this experience.Abby (Guest) – Roxbury, MA
Great opportunity for both student and homeowner that provides a safe and friendly environment.Rachel (Host) – Dorchester, MA
